Dec 5, 2008 - Ok then well we will make our own videos and if they come back saying its copyright to see your OWN FACE in the cam then they can piss off

votethirdpartynow Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - that's already happen - guy made a video uploaded it to youtube - Viacom showed his video on VH1 - the guy put the VH1 clip on his channel and Viacom DMACed it even though Viacom never asked if they could show it in the first place.

Eloen136 Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - Well thats complete BS

votethirdpartynow Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - better turn onto politics before it turns on you

Eloen136 Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - Lol what if I dont tell youtube what iv been watching like they say in the video odering us to tell them what we have been watching will I get suspended or something?

votethirdpartynow Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - you don't have to tell them anything they are already keeping a record of your every click, what you watch, for how long you watch and a record of your IP.

Eloen136 Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - OMG Thats breaking into privicy it should be banned

RyuDarragh Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - Viacom goes to senate, says "We lost all this money! Look at the stats we got from YouTube! Pass this legislation!" And the senate dutifully (money drives most of them) and passes the "Orphan Works Act". Now, any content *not* registered with the copyright office is *theirs* to do whatever they wish with it.

votethirdpartynow Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - write to google tell them to fall into contempt of court

votethirdpartynow Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - vote them all out of office!

Eloen136 Says:

LunaticAssnGotzGame Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - Dude, invasion of privacy isn't cool...it's not up there with funny accidents and energy drinks...Question though, I'm from Canada, so does that mean Viacom has my info too? Cuz it's the US Senate that voted on this, so can they take my info because of the ruling comming from a different country? Might be a stupid question, i don't know, but i'm curious as to how that works.

votethirdpartynow Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - Yes, Google stores every click, every IP and how long you watch each video.A law needs to be passed that forces Google to delate such information in every country.

UpTballA Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - good point, MSNBC takin a youtube video lol

votethirdpartynow Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - it's fari use so I believe it's still legit

oldmanpoodle Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - Ya say you want a revolution...

coder58 Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - People, its not invasion of privacy, you think the internet is for you own private use? Get real! Everything you do on the internet is recorded, thats just the nature of the beast. As for VIACOM, they are just trying to protect their own material. People need to be more responsible on what they post on websites. Before talking about "invasion of privacy" crap in relation to the internet, get a book about it and learn how the internet works. Its just that simple!

votethirdpartynow Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - wrong, it was the people who paid for the wires and infrastructure of the net - the people who own the airwaves - it's the 4th amendment that has been violated - as far as copywrite it's call fair use and any laws are only a matter of Congress.it's just that simple.

coder58 Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - Fair use? free for all No if you dont have permission to use other peoples copyrighted material, than its stealing, as for as gathering information, VIACOM is only gathering your ISP IP address, no big deal with that, every server on the internet captures this sort of information anyway, no big deal. And yes, its that simple

votethirdpartynow Says:

Dec 5, 2008 - You need to read the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.Viacom asked a court for the entire Google key stroke database - you do know that Google stores every key stroke you make on all it's products, including You Tube, right? That means ever video you watch, how long and how many times you watched it etc. is what Viacom wants. The court ruled in Viacoms favor. So if you ever watched anything that was copy written you're guilty as hell and Google can prove it.
