brief synopsis (I Think youtube should make it mandatory that people put a synopsis of their video in the description box): I rant on FranzDuckVideos and I critique his reasons for not debating religious people and critique his reasons for becoming an atheist and conclude that the most likely reason he became an atheist is the same as nearly every atheist here on youtube (the probable exceptions I can name off the top of my head are ProfMTH, RandyHelzerman, Tehknologik, and Knowntje) and that is the herd mentality we observe among youtube antitheists. thanks to youtube and the internet, it is suddenly cool to be an atheist.Christians you ought to debate in order to get a healthy dose of realityhttp://www.youtube.com/user/Veritas48http://www.youtube.com/user/Kabane52http://www.youtube.com/user/KabaneTheChristianhttp://www.youtube.com/user/migkillertwo

Dec 5, 2008 - I mean of someone that young in age in favour of the death penalty, not the penalty itself (which I don't agree with, but can understand why people do agree with it, I'm from Belfast were in the past we had people killing countless innocent others in bomb attacks). I just mean that I find it disturbing that someone of his young age promoting he was in favour of it.

Dec 5, 2008 - I can understand why many atheist feel no need to criticise religion because they either have no problem with it or have no interest in it. But for many atheist (at least for me) a big part of the reason to make videos about atheism and religion is to find out if the way I view reality is true or not. Thats definitely not the only reason but I guess it is the most important reason why I have a youtube channel on atheism.

Dec 5, 2008 - You may be right about the "herd mentality" thing.Most people in Christian societies become Christians, most people in Muslim societies become Muslim and most people in Hindu societies become Hindu.Clearly people's beliefs are heavily influenced by the company they keep.I guess the only way to be sure you're not falling into the "heard mentality" would be to start from a neutral position and look at things objectively.Oh, wait. Agnostic atheism IS the neutral position. :)

Dec 5, 2008 - the neutral position is agnosticism. if Atheism is simply a lack of belief in God (contrary to most dictionaries of philosophy), then agnostics would also be atheists. but agnostics are not atheists, they are agnostics. hence agnosticism (ignorance) is always the neutral position.

You can be a gnostic theist which means you know that god exists, or an agnostic theist who believes god exists but is not absolutely sure. An agnostic atheist is someone who doesn't believe that god exists. A gnostic atheist is someone who knows that there is no god. But who cares about semantics, I dont care if Im called an atheist or an agnostic

You can believe that gods don't exist without claiming to know that gods don't exist.Gnostic atheists are automatically strong atheism (obviously).If it's agnostic vs. gnostic atheism, I am an agnostic atheist. If it's strong vs. weak atheism, I'm a strong atheist. I believe there are no gods.

He has responded to none of those 3 challenges. if he was intelligent enough, or at least thought he was intelligent enough, to seriously debate such an existentially heavy question like the existence of God.
