Sep 2, 2008 - gwy-We are all dying. As the Beat Poets often said "life is about leaving, not staying". We spend most of our time, one way or another, preparing for the end. It brings to mind this peculiar phenomenon called "Tears of Joy". Every damn summer, whether at weddings, births or graduations, I see all these people crying. This isn't "joy". This is psychological pain. We quietly understand that none of this will last. One day, the grandparent, the parents, the student and even the baby, must die.

Sep 2, 2008 - no ma'am that's an eor statement

Sep 2, 2008 - Wow this is the only video ive ever seen thats over an hour long

angeldawn81 Says:

Sep 2, 2008 - I think Randy Pausch would disagree with you. Just because I smoke doesnt mean I can't be inspired by something someone with cancer says. Your comment is completely ignorant and selfish

TheLogicJunkie Says:

Sep 3, 2008 - I guess that all depends on whether or not you believe that something "facetious" isn't really veiled sincerity and thinly-disguised malice or contempt.Freud didn't believe that "jokes" were really "just jokes", and I don't either.

gwymedd Says:

Sep 3, 2008 - You smoke, which you know causes cancer, (otherwise you wouldn't have the intelligence to turn on the computer). when a man, who is dying of cancer gives a lecture about how to live, where do you think smoking comes on his list of priorites? personally, I think you're probably right about me being selfish and ignorant though. I dont give a shit if you smoke or not. and I couldnt give a shit if you are inspired or not. but if you cherry-pick bits of the message, dont bore us all with the details.

gwymedd Says:

Sep 3, 2008 - Freud thought everything boiled down to sex, he never met my missus!

TheLogicJunkie Says:

Sep 3, 2008 - I hear that complaint a lot.

Sep 3, 2008 - Were we all so lucky.

Sep 3, 2008 - I think I like you.

redheadedguy00 Says:

Sep 3, 2008 - He had pancreatic cancer, not lung cancer. Duh.

gwymedd Says:

Sep 3, 2008 - well smoke then, it's what Randy would have wanted.

TheBadBandana Says:

Sep 3, 2008 - cool, if you make it you will be challenged to be as good as older people, and if you don't it will be your brick wall and you will be challenged to keep singing and practicing without the support of regular choir rehearsals to be able to join next tryout.

TheBadBandana Says:

Sep 3, 2008 - very astute. weddings are, in the words of one jungian, "the death of the maiden", and we all know that and mourn. it must feel wonderful to hear the news that you only have to endure three to six more months of this. More wonderful if you can run up your credit cards and write a bestselling book to leave your family well provided for.

PeaceLoveEternity Says:

Sep 3, 2008 - Obama wants to destroy America. Look at all the things he supports that murders our Constitution. FISA, Patriot Act, Military Commisions Act, Tax increases, etc.RON PAUL 2008POWER TO THE REVOLUTION!!!

Sep 4, 2008 - I'm sorry ... I don't understand ... what has laisser faire got to do with Randy Pausch' attitude?-----------Definition: 1. principle of no regulation of industry: the principle that the economy works best if private industry is not regulated and markets are free2. refusal to interfere: refusal to interfere in other people's affairs, or the practice of letting people do as they wish -----------I don't see how living your life to the fullest every minute you have left fits?

gwymedd Says:

Sep 5, 2008 - well spotted Brian, i apollogise most ambly for my erronial ussage of the frase laisser faire. and thank you for your terminalogical exactitudiness. for everyone not as clever as Brian, I meant that prof. Pausch faced death with a jovial manner.
